CHAPTER I — MANDATE

A collection agency operating under written mandate.

UNIVERSAL MOBILE DEALER carries on the activity of debt collection agencies and credit bureaux. Each engagement begins with a written mandate from the original creditor or assignee, and is supervised by a qualified case officer.

Our remit covers commercial and consumer obligations: invoices, contractual debts, instalment defaults, and reported delinquencies submitted to the credit reference register.

We do not purchase portfolios on speculation, and we do not engage in conduct that misrepresents legal status or threatens action that cannot lawfully be taken.

II.
CHAPTER II — PRACTICE AREAS

Three practice areas across the receivables lifecycle.

i.

Pre-legal collections

Structured outreach on overdue receivables before judicial action: notice letters, scheduled telephony, secured digital correspondence, and negotiated settlement.

  • First-notice and dunning letters
  • Negotiated repayment schedules
  • Skip-tracing within lawful sources
  • Hardship reviews and forbearance
ii.

Credit bureau services

Maintenance of credit reference files, reception of lender submissions, dispute handling, and disclosure of consumer credit reports on lawful request.

  • Lender data intake and validation
  • Consumer file disclosure on request
  • Dispute, correction and erasure
  • Retention under statutory periods
iii.

Litigation support

Where amicable resolution is exhausted, we prepare evidentiary files for instructing solicitors, including chronology, communications log, and balance reconciliation.

  • Statement of facts and chronology
  • Reconstructed account ledgers
  • Communications and notice log
  • Service of pre-action letters

CHAPTER III — CASE FLOW

Instruction & intake

02

Notice & engagement

03

Resolution or referral

Where engagement leads to settlement, instalments are documented and monitored. Where it fails, the file is referred to litigation support.

04

Reporting & closure

Final accounting is provided to the creditor, the credit reference file is updated, and personal data is closed in line with retention schedules.

CHAPTER IV — CREDIT BUREAU

A reference register for lenders and consumers.

Reports issued to subscribing lenders are limited to the minimum data necessary to assess creditworthiness.

CHAPTER V — CONSUMER QUESTIONS

Answers to questions a regulated debtor may ask.

Why have I received a notice from this office?

You have been listed by an original creditor as having an outstanding obligation. The notice sets out the creditor's name, the amount claimed, and the date it became due.

How can I dispute a claim or a credit reference entry?

Send a written dispute within thirty days of first notice, with your file reference. Collection activity is suspended and the relevant entry is investigated until validation is provided.

What if I cannot pay the full amount today?

A documented hardship review may lead to a structured repayment plan. Forbearance, partial settlement, and extended schedules are available subject to creditor instruction.

How long will a default appear on my credit reference file?

A settled default is suppressed at the end of the statutory retention period, regardless of whether it is paid in full, partially settled, or written off.

Do you ever contact employers, neighbours or family members?

No. Communication is directed only to the debtor, on channels they have provided or that have been verified through lawful skip-tracing sources, and never to discuss the debt with third parties.
